Welsh composer Adrienne Spilsbury creates a sound-world that is evocative and atmospheric, drawing in performers and audiences alike. Her musical language is lyrical and expressive, often connected with particular places, landscapes, gardens or people. In July 2026, a multi-ensemble retrospective of her work was greatly enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience at the Buxton Fringe Festival. Blackpool Symphony Orchestra’s September 2026 Prom concert premiered Into the day, a work which invites listeners to cherish the dawn of a new day. Adrienne is currently creating a work for St. John’s Festival Orchestra in Chester.

Welsh composer Adrienne Spilsbury nominated for Making Music Commissioning Award 2026 for Dancing To A Lighter Sky.
Judging Panel: Debbie Wiseman, composer and Making Music President; Sally Groves, Vaughan Williams Foundation; Dan Goren, Composers' Edition.
'The panel praised this adventurous piece for its ambition and the great part writing, particularly for woodwinds. It was appropriately challenging for the orchestra, and the clear collaboration between the group and the composer was to be admired. The work is already creating a legacy, having been performed by two other orchestras.'
